The past Friday I had family in town, and after a long day of shopping we happened to end up at the lobby bar at the Ace Hotel. We all had a couple of rounds of delicious cocktails while contemplating what to do for dinner. Due to location and time of wait, we ended up having dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, The Breslin. We started the table with appetizers of oysters and boiled peanuts fried in pork fat. While, I am personally not the biggest fan of oysters, my friends were delirious from their consumption. I on the other hand single-handedly devoured half of the boiled peanuts; they were not the juicy variety indigenous to my native South Carolina, but they did not disappoint. For dinner half of our party decided on the crispy Berkshire pork belly with corn, Romano beans & okra, while the other half ordered the char-grilled lamb burger with feta. The pork belly was decadent, and cooked to the perfect temperature; the corn, Romano beans and okra succotash was the perfect sweet compliment to the saltiness of the pork. Overall the experience was delightfully pleasant, I will be returning soon to try their other offerings most certainly.
