Various and Sundry Things: Conceptual Artist Mel Bochner

Happy President’s day!  I unfortunately do not have today off so please go and enjoy all the sales and sleep in-because that is what I would be doing.  When Jessica and I started this blog we agreed that we could post about whatever was inspiring us.  Well, I was inspired this weekend while cleaning out an old purse this past weekend and I found a pamphlet from the National Gallery of Art.  The pamphlet was from a Mel Bochner exhibit that my husband and I had visited last spring.

Before seeing the his work I didn’t have an idea who Mel Bochner was, but his paintings speak for themselves-literally.  Mel Bochner is an American born conceptual artist.  His paintings were really mesmerizing with all the colors and words selections-sometimes very blunt.  Here were some of my favorites.  Enjoy!

Do you remember when we saw his exhibit at the NGA?

They wouldnt let you take any pictures. It was the only time I can ever remember the museum having that rule.
