Feed Me: Strawberry Jam

My husband and I are huge Costco fans, however it is difficult for anyone to digest 6 lbs of strawberries before they go bad. We had about 3 cups of strawberries that were on their last leg, so instead of tossing them I decided to make strawberry jam.

I have never made jam before, but I love the idea of learning how to can. Our DC apartment would not be able to hold all my canning creations though, so a small batch to try it out seemed like a better idea.

I am saving to invest in a better camera than my Iphone. I wish you could see all the pieces to the jam, I was quite impressed with myself.

I looked up a few recipes on-line to get some inspiration. In the end I used 3 simple ingredients, lemon juice, sugar, and strawberries.

My breakfast everyday this week has consisted of delicious challah bread (have you tried my challah french toast yet?) and my homemade strawberry jam.

Ingredients: Makes a 1.5 cups of Jam

3 Cups Strawberries (cleaned and hulled)

1.5 Cups of Sugar-granulated

Juice of 1/2 a Lemon


Use blender or stick blender to breakdown the strawberries. Add strawberries to stove, and heat to medium high. Stir in sugar and lemon juice until it all dissolves. Take strawberries off the stove to cool, then refrigerate. My consistency wasn’t super thick, but it was not runny either.
