Various and Sundry: Happy House Warming

This weekend a dear friend of mine and her boyfriend are having a house warming party for their new apartment here in NYC. I am really excited to not only check out their new casa, but celebrate this milestone with them. It also has significance to me personally; it signifies we are actually all grown-up and are able to stand on our own two feet (sometimes it is more of a wobble I will have to admit).

Since it would be a bit rude to show up empty handed I began to ponder an appropriate gift to help add personality to their new pad. Here are a few things that struck me as pretty awesome gifts I would want.

Infusing spirits with fruits and herbs allows you to put a personal touch on a traditional gift; allowing you to cater to host’s tastes.

Cheese slates are great because they are wonderful for hosting and allows guests to easily decipher which cheese they would like to eat.

My friend Carrie once told me her favorite wedding present to give was bocce ball sets. Can I just say that I LOVE BOCCE!? I thought it would also make an amazing house warming present providing the host(s) had the landscape.

Whiskey tumblers is glassware I find most of friends don’t currently own, which is a shame. They are beautiful gift that can even be personalized with a monogram (I would recommend this only for married couples).
